IP over coax

Implementing a home network using existing coaxial cabling

With IP over coax, a home network can be set up using the existing coaxial cabling in the building – without laying new network cables. KATHREIN's K-LAN products utilize the existing coaxial cable infrastructure of the satellite or cable TV system and reliably transmit IP data over the existing distribution network. This allows network-enabled devices such as receivers, TVs, PCs, laptops, and other end devices to be conveniently connected to the router. Configuration is automatic and requires no additional software. Depending on the system and installation, ranges of up to 700 meters are possible over coax. This makes IP over coax ideal for residential buildings, existing installations, and applications where network expansion is desired without the need for complex rewiring.
